BACK TO SCHOOL ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS 2011
Schedule Day - August 12
Schedule Day is Friday, August 12, from 8:00am to 2:00pm. We look forward to seeing you! You and your student may stop by anytime during Schedule Day to pick up your student's schedule, try out locker combinations, pick up PE clothes, and visit with friends. If you cannot attend Schedule Day, you may pick up your child's schedule (as well as his/her PE clothes) on Monday, August 15 from 11:30am-2:30pm or Tuesday, August 16 from 8:30am-3:30pm. In case of conflict, alternative arrangements can be made by contacting egan_pta_president@eganschool.org. Please note that we can only accept cash or checks. We cannot accept credit card payments.
Language translators and computers will be available to parents on Schedule Day to assist with completing student data forms.
Student Data Form - IMPORTANT!
The Student Profile/Emergency Form will be sent to you via email from the LASD, registrar@lasdk8.org, this week and must be completed online in order to pick up your student’s schedule. As part of this LASD mandated process, you will also be asked to read and acknowledge the Los Altos School District ZERO Tolerance, Civility and Technology Policies. You will not receive your schedule if you have not completed the Emergency Form as well as acknowledging your review of the LASD's policies. In addition, you must also read and acknowledge the Student Handbook information as part of the BTS System.
Back-to-School Online System
Egan's Online PTA Back to School (“BTS”) System will be available on August 3 and run through August 26. This online system will help Egan families speed through the BTS process, i.e. membership, direct donation, hot lunch, PE clothes, yearbook, while also saving paper and volunteer hours. Order Hot Lunch
This year, Pasta Market and Spot Pizza will provide hot lunch. This change will allow Egan to continue to provide healthy, wholesome, tasty lunches that meet the state of California nutritional guidelines while also complying with USDA guidelines. The menu will change approximately every twelve weeks, offering our students a variety of different food choices and cuisines. We are excited to offer four entree choices from Pasta Market each day of the week, except on Wednesdays when we offer Spot’s pizza. Online ordering will be available beginning Monday, August 1. For information about ordering, see Hot Lunch. The first session of hot lunch will begin on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 17.
First Day of School - Wednesday, August 17
School begins Wednesday, August 17 at 9:00am. As our first day of school falls on a Wednesday, we will observe our usual Wednesday "late start" schedule. School will be dismissed at 2:54pm. For additional information regarding the daily bell schedule, please see the Bell Schedule.
Back-to-School Coffee (for parents) - Wednesday, August 17, beginning at 9:00am
Please plan to attend our annual BTS coffee on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 17 at 9:00am in the center of the Egan campus. We'll have coffee and refreshments and there will be ample opportunity to connect with other parents to kick-off the new school year.
Blue and Gold Day - Friday, August 19
We encourage all Egan students to show their school spirit by wearing blue and gold.
Back-to-School Night (for parents only) - August 25, 6:45pm
The Egan Back-to-School night will give parents a complete orientation to your student"s school day. Parents are invited to come to Egan's Multi-purpose Room at 6:45 pm for a short introduction by our Principal, Brenda Dyckman, and the rest of the Egan administrative team. Beginning at 7:25 pm, parents will follow their student"s daily schedule to meet each of their child"s teachers. Short discussions in each classroom will inform you about the curriculum, instructional emphasis, homework policy, materials that students need and general classroom expectations.
