The purpose of Tutorial is to provide real-time, academically focused intervention, extension, and enrichment with and for students during the school day.  Students MUST HAVE A PLANNER in order for this to work smoothly as we move through the year.

Students' preparation will begin with an orientation, which covers purpose, strategies, choice, and process. During the 1st advisory, we again review the process and make a selection(s) in preparation for the first tutorial.  Tutorials occur twice a week on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

How will tutorial work?  Students receive a schedule each week with tutorial offerings with teacher names, tutorial room locations, topics covered, and whether the tutorial is open or closed.  Open tutorials allow for any student to attend while closed tutorials are only for specific students identified by the teacher for extension, enrichment,  intervention, or follow up--a stamp is placed into the student’s planner that would read “math” or “history” for example; indicating the subject the student would need to attend. Egan teachers meet regularly to determine student needs and tutorial offerings. All students are required to attend a tutorial. Both students and families have access to the tutorial folder found under academics/tutorial on eganschool.org website. This allows families to review with the student(s) each week if needed as they prepare for the following week.

We have found that tutorial has offered our students a unique support structure tailored to their needs each week. Many students have shared they appreciate the time to meet with teachers to reengage with the academic concepts, extend their learning, or simply work, organize and prepare for upcoming learning.
