Egan Junior High — Home of the Vikings

Egan Junior High is a two-year school located in Los Altos, California, and ranked within the top 20 Public Middle Schools in the state of California according to US News and World Report (out of 2319). Egan is one of two junior highs in the distinguished Los Altos School District. Located in the northern part of the district, Egan provides an outstanding education to over 650 students in seventh and eighth grades.

Egan was selected as a California Distinguished School in 1988, with the review team praising the high caliber of instruction and teacher preparation. Egan is now designated as a Sustained Distinguished School and continues to demonstrate academic excellence as one of the top junior high schools in the state. 

Egan's Mission is to create a safe, caring, and supportive community where ALL students are empowered to learn at high levels while growing to be resilient, respectful, and productive citizens in a dynamic global landscape.

Egan’s Vision is to become an equitable community in which ALL members collaborate and develop personal responsibility to make a positive impact in the world. 

Egan is named for Ardis G. Egan, a former Superintendent of the Los Altos School District.
