Egan’s Viking Showcase will be held on Thursday May 30th, 2024 and we will need 150 volunteers to successfully execute this signature event.

Please volunteer using this link: 2024 Viking Showcase Signup.  May 10th is deadline to sign up to volunteer

For over 20 years, the Viking Showcase has been a rite of passage for Egan 8th graders. During personal interviews with community volunteers, graduating 8th-grade students showcase achievements from their years at Egan. The Viking Showcase provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate professional skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking.

Egan 8th graders are divided into small groups and assigned to one or two volunteers.   Student groups showcase their academic work and the adult participants provide feedback, ask pertinent questions, and help the students celebrate their achievements. The review process increases student motivation, builds a sense of accomplishment, and fosters community involvement with the school. Past volunteers have truly enjoyed this invaluable experience.

Each volunteering session is about a 2-hour commitment (review student portfolios in the school library, walk to the classroom, listen to several students present their material, ask them questions/provide feedback, return to the library to write brief thank you notes).  Parents are not paired with their own students.

Please consider helping out at this important event.

Thank you!
