Title:
Chorus
Mary Hamilton

Mrs. Hamilton was born in Seattle, lived in Detroit, then moved to California when she was 9. She studied piano from the age of 5, played clarinet in bands from grades 4-10, then sang in choirs from grade 11, in college, and beyond. Mrs. Hamilton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Earth Sciences from Stanford University, and a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance, completed all requirements for a Bachelor of Music Education (fun!), and a teaching credential from San Jose State University. She lives in Mountain View with her husband, Eric, and cat, Hope. Her son works as a video game designer and her daughter as a lawyer. In non-pandemic times, she teaches and conducts five choirs as well as plays piano for Almond's Chorus. Mrs Hamilton's other main interests are drumming, reading, nutrition and cooking, gardening with edibles and native plants, hiking, and running. Things I love about choir: melody, harmony, community, sharing, support network, lyrics & poetry, and the joyful experience of making music together. Our musical accomplishments are more than the sum of the parts! And we can still do a lot of these things during the pandemic!! I love working with middle school-age students: a sublime mix of youth and adult, seriousness and humor, who are hugely capable, aware of complexities and injustices, yet still able to be child-like in their enjoyment of life.
