We are so excited to welcome our students on Wednesday, August 12th! Our staff has been busy preparing classrooms, organizing schedules, and getting everything ready for the start of a great new school year. Whether your family is returning to Egan or joining us for the first time, we can’t wait to have our students back on campus.
First Day of School – Wednesday, August 12th
Please remember that all Wednesdays are late-start days, including the first day of school. The first bell, signaling students to head to class, will ring at 9:12 a.m.
Students should report directly to their Advisory class when the bell rings.
Egan’s bell schedule can be found below and will also be printed on the back of the student's schedule.
Student Planner & Chromebook
As part of their toolkit for learning, each student will receive an Egan student planner along with a district-issued Chromebook and charger.
The planner is an important resource for keeping track of assignments, important dates, and school information, and we encourage students to use it daily.
Chromebooks should travel to and from school with students each day and come to school fully charged and ready to use. A good nightly routine is to plug in the Chromebook before bed—right alongside brushing your teeth!
Lunch at Egan
LASD continues to participate in California’s Universal Meals Program. Students who wish to participate may receive free breakfast and lunch each school day, and there is no need to sign up in advance.
Monthly menus can be found on the District website and are linked below.
Many students take advantage of the school lunch program, while others choose to bring lunch from home. Please note that, due to our food service agreements, outside food deliveries are not permitted. This includes services such as DoorDash or similar delivery services.
Back-to-School Night
Please mark your calendars for our annual Back-to-School Night on Wednesday, August 26th.
Parents and guardians will have the opportunity to follow their student’s schedule, learn more about each course, and meet their teachers. More detailed information will be shared as we get closer to the event.
We know the start of junior high can come with lots of questions, especially for families who are new to Egan. Please know that we are here to support you every step of the way. If you or your student have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
We are so excited to get the year started and can’t wait to welcome our students to campus on Wednesday!
